Why Training Is the Foundation

Certification Is Won or Lost in the Field — Not in the Office

The most common reason farms fail certification audits is not poor farming — it is untrained farmers doing the right things wrong, or not knowing what records to keep, or not understanding what an auditor will ask them during a worker interview.

An auditor who arrives at a well-trained farm sees confidence, organised records, proper PPE storage, correct pesticide handling, and a team that can answer questions clearly. These are not accidents — they are the result of deliberate, practical training delivered in the farmer’s language, in the field, with real examples from their own farm.

Our training is not a classroom lecture. It is hands-on, practical, and delivered where farming actually happens. Auditors who have visited farms we trained have directly commented on the visible difference our training makes.

“The on-farm training Agrosocial delivered transformed how our members keep records and handle pesticides. Auditors who came after the training noticed the difference immediately.”

Training Modules

Six Core Training Areas — All Field-Delivered

Every training module is delivered on-farm in practical, hands-on sessions. Training content is adapted to your specific certification standard, crop type, and farmer literacy level.

📋

GAP & Certification Compliance

We explain what Good Agricultural Practices mean in practice for your farm — walking through the specific requirements of GLOBALG.A.P., Rainforest Alliance, or FairTrade in plain language tied to what your farmers actually do every day.

Standard requirements in farmers’ language
Critical, Major, and Minor control points explained
What auditors look for during field visits
How to answer auditor questions confidently
☠️

Pesticide Safety & MRL Management

The most common cause of export rejections and audit failures in Kenya is pesticide misuse. We train farmers on safe pesticide handling, correct mixing and application, MRL compliance, pre-harvest intervals, and proper storage and disposal.

PPE requirements and correct usage
Approved and restricted pesticide lists for your market
Pre-harvest intervals and MRL compliance
Pesticide store setup and triple-rinse waste disposal
📒

Farm Record-Keeping

Good records are the evidence that makes certification possible. We train farmers and cooperative staff on what records are required, how to complete them correctly, how to organise and store them, and how to present them to auditors.

Farm diary, input purchase, and application records
Harvest and packing records
Worker attendance and training records
Record filing systems auditors can navigate easily
🍎

Post-Harvest Handling & Food Safety

From field to packhouse, how produce is handled directly affects its certification compliance and commercial value. We train on harvesting hygiene, sorting, grading, packing area requirements, and cold chain protocols.

Harvesting hygiene and container cleanliness
Packhouse layout and food safety requirements
Sorting, grading, and rejection protocols
Lot labelling and traceability systems
🔍

Internal Inspector Training

For cooperatives pursuing GLOBALG.A.P. Option 2 group certification, trained internal inspectors are mandatory. We train cooperative staff to conduct their own internal inspections — building long-term, self-sustaining compliance capability within your organisation.

Internal inspection methodology and checklists
Non-conformance identification and reporting
Corrective action documentation
Internal audit report writing for Option 2
🌿

Rainforest Alliance & Supply Chain Standards

For farms, cooperatives, and businesses operating under Rainforest Alliance certification — including tea, coffee, cocoa, and horticulture. We deliver training on RA 2020 standard requirements, Supply Chain Requirements, and Chain of Custody for processors and traders.

RA 2020 Sustainable Agriculture Standard modules
Supply Chain Risk Assessment (SCRA)
Chain of Custody traceability requirements
Income and shared responsibility requirements

How It Works

From Training Brief to Field-Ready Farmers — Step by Step

1

Training Needs Assessment

We discuss your group size, certification target, crop type, current compliance status, farmer literacy levels, and training timeline. We design a programme that matches exactly what your farmers need — not a generic curriculum.

2

Custom Training Programme Design

We develop a tailored training plan covering the specific modules your farmers need, in the right language and format for your group — including practical demonstrations, role plays, and farmer-friendly record templates.

3

On-Farm Training Delivery

We come to your farm or cooperative centre and deliver training in the field — using real examples from your own farm, practical demonstrations with your equipment, and group exercises that build confidence and retention. Training is delivered in English, Swahili, or local language as appropriate.

4

Training Assessment & Certification of Attendance

We conduct a practical assessment at the end of training — confirming that farmers have understood and can apply what they have been taught. Participants receive signed training attendance records, which are required documentation for GLOBALG.A.P. and Rainforest Alliance audits.

Post-Training Support

We remain available via WhatsApp for follow-up questions as your farmers implement what they have learned. For groups progressing toward an audit, we provide additional guidance as the audit date approaches.

Common Questions

Farmer & Cooperative Training — FAQs

Is the training on-farm or in a classroom?

On-farm and field-based. We come to your farm or cooperative centre and train using real examples from your own land and your own equipment — not a generic classroom lecture. Sessions are delivered in English, Swahili, or the local language, whichever suits your group.

How much does training cost?

It depends on your group size, crop, target certification, and location. We design the programme around your group and give a clear fixed cost estimate after a free discussion. If you want a self-study option, our GAP Training Manual is KES 800.

Do farmers receive attendance records for their audit?

Yes. Every participant receives signed training attendance records. These are required documentation for GLOBALG.A.P. and Rainforest Alliance audits, so the training itself helps close a compliance requirement.

Can you train our cooperative’s internal inspectors for Option 2 group certification?

Yes — internal inspector training is one of our core modules. We train your QMS staff to run their own internal inspections, identify and report non-conformances, document corrective actions, and write the internal audit reports Option 2 group certification requires.

Which crops and certification standards do you train for?

Avocado, French beans, mango, roses, tea, coffee, macadamia, and herbs and vegetables — across GLOBALG.A.P. IFA v6, Rainforest Alliance 2020, FairTrade, Kenya GAP, and RA Chain of Custody and Supply Chain requirements.

Can I pay via M-Pesa?

Yes. Training fees and the digital GAP Training Manual can both be paid via M-Pesa. Send a WhatsApp message and we will share payment instructions immediately.
